Sustainability Culture

Located in Willingdon Business Park, Fusion Security participates in the City of Burnaby’s commercial recycling program, attempting to achieve a green office. Through our sustainability efforts, we seek to cultivate a green office culture that encourages our employees to be mindful about how they eliminate their waste, and hoping to create positive habits towards sustainability that will extend beyond the workplace and into their personal lives. To create sustainable employee habits, we have replaced all waste bins in the office with an innovative recycling program that helps meet the city’s sustainability goals. All office waste is processed through a central, expanded recycling system – ensuring that all items are recycled correctly to eliminate waste in the most sustainable way.

Pink Shirt Day

Bullying is a major problem in our schools, workplaces, homes, and over the Internet. Each year, on Pink Shirt Day, we encourage everyone to wear something pink to symbolize that we as a society will not tolerate bullying anywhere. Take the message and remember it all year long.

It is so important that victims of bullying know they are not alone and there is help and support available. Wearing a pink shirt on this day sends a strong message to them that others care. Often, the simple act of wearing a shirt can start conversations – conversations can be a big step towards healing and helping!

Toy Mountain

This wonderful initiative known as ‘Toy Mountain’ was started 23 years ago to address the very real need of families not having the means to provide a gift for their children at Christmas time. This holiday season, CTV Vancouver, 103.5 QMFM, 94.5 Virgin Radio and TSN Radio Vancouver are partnering together for Toy Mountain happening at Guildford Town Centre on December in support of The Salvation Army and the children and families they serve.

Growing the Hybrid Fleet

With our mobile patrol & response unit growing, Fusion Security continues to add hybrid vehicles to the mobile fleet to ensure we are not increasing our environmental impact. Our vehicles, used by the Mobile division, Parking Enforcement, and Field Support personnel combine gasoline and electric energy to power the vehicles, for reduced emissions.

Clothing Donations

We are always innovating our uniform to keep it looking professional, functional, and comfortable. When we have lightly-used clothing items which are no longer of use to us, we donate them to organizations such as Union Gospel Mission. This helps Fusion Security meet its sustainability goals, ensuring all company items are recycled appropriately, and therefore reducing the amount of items that end up in landfills. Our year-round donation programs also provide resources for the community.

Canadian Blood Services Blood Drive

In December 2018, one of our coordinators partnered with Canadian Blood Services to educate our employees and partners on the importance of giving blood and the impact it has on others. Through our “Fusion Cares” initiatives, we encourage philanthropic behaviour to help these actions develop into habits. We are proud to support our employees in pursuing their charitable ideas, through partnerships and events with non-profit organizations. If you are a non-profit that would like to partner with Fusion Security, please contact info@fusionsecurity for more information.

First Aid Training to Increase Public Safety

Occupational First Aid Level 1 is a basic first aid training certification that has been created by the Occupational Health & Safety Board of WorkSafeBC, to recognize certified individuals as being able to provide basic first aid for injured workers in the workplace. Fusion Security seeks to provide OFA level 1 training for all Security Personnel. Certain key personnel are also certified at the more comprehensive OFA level 2. By investing in the qualifications of our personnel, we are confident that they can proactively respond to any emergency, and that our clients’ health, safety, and peace of mind is protected 24/7.

Emergency Resources: Shelter, Food Services, & Donations

Fusion Security and our employees donate through client initiatives and associations to the important Vancouver Food Bank to help address the hunger problem in the Greater Vancouver Community. We also understand that emergencies occur when we least expect them to – so we have provided all of our personnel with information and training about emergency shelter and food services. Fortunately, we’ve been able to direct many members of the community to these services during their times of need. For more information, please visit  bchousing.org/Options/Emergency_Housing/ESP.

Event Security

Fusion Security has donated security and patrol services to a variety of non-profit events in our community.
